What Is the Role of Real-Time Insights in Construction Project Success?

In this blog series you will find out that companies with high levels of performance visibility are well placed to deliver successful construction projects. We cover the following:

  • What gets measured gets managed will be published on 23 April 2021
  • Visibility of performance will be published on 30 April 2021
  • Measurable benefits of performance visibility will be published on 7 May 2021
  • Advanced capabilities and collaboration will be published on 14 May 2021

Research conducted for Procore

suggests that:

  • nearly half of construction businesses that have visibility of performance have improved product quality and overall efficiency and productivity in the way their projects are run.
  • real-time insights are saving individual managers globally almost a full day’s work every week
  • avoiding delays, rework and other issues saves each business, on average, £253,000 per annum.
  • nine out of ten businesses say they are using performance monitoring systems, this includes the use of generic manual systems such as spreadsheets.
  • around half of the businesses had adopted construction-specific platforms and point solutions, and
  • - over half of the survey respondents said they were using artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning technologies to assist their performance monitoring processes.

Procore and Driving Vision believe that:

  • companies with high levels of performance visibility are best placed to deliver successful construction projects, by capitalizing upon insights to inform decision-making.
  • there remains considerable room for improvement across many businesses if they can join the shift away from manual data collection and reporting tools towards platforms that deliver real-time performance metrics.
  • the global construction sector has lagged in other industries in terms of its levels of digitization. As a conservative and risk-averse industry, this lag is perhaps to be expected, but we are now seeing real signs of a digital and cultural transformation – also accelerated during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
  • paper-based data capture and manual Excel-based performance monitoring to support monthly board reporting cycles are now being replaced by real-time reporting enabled by platforms like Driving Vision and its ecosystem of supported solutions.
  • On-demand dashboard views provide project teams and management with rich, up-to-the-minute visibility of key performance metrics.
  • Today’s managers increasingly have the insights they need to make informed decisions for their own businesses and can more easily share those insights with their supply chain partners.
